Is there a better way to start a year than gliding over stunning soft coral reefs exploding with dazzling marine life?
Not for me, there is nowhere I rather be!
Our lucky group of 16 celebrated life and the New Year on the Seven Seas liveaboard in Raja Ampat.

Even though I’ve been to Raja Ampat over a dozen times there are always new discoveries to be made.
This time our wonderful cruise director Alex took us to a remote jellyfish lake filled with thousands of stingless jellyfish. It was a challenging climb up a sharp limestone path to reach the lake but so worth it! Nearby were prehistoric drawings and paintings on the cliffs of the wall cave and then we swam through the eerie and beautiful Tomolo Cave.

Everyday was a new world and a new WOW! The magnificent soft corals of Misool, the cryptic critters in Aljui Bay, the layers and layers of fish in Sawanderek and Yenbuba. And more swimming wobbegong sharks than I’ve ever seen.

The reefs are in fabulous shape and the marine life is prolific.

Best of all was the terrific camaraderie on board between the guests and with the crew of the Seven Seas.

Wishing the best to all my fellow snorkelers in 2020.
Cheers,
