Raja Ampat never ceases to wow me with the breadth of diversity and beauty underwater. It takes my breath away to be surrounded by a wall of schools and schools of fish swirling around me or to swim over a kaleidoscope of soft coral in every color.
Our ten night voyage on the newly remodeled Pindito showcased just how much Raja Ampat has to offer. We started in our explorations in the Misool. Highlights included Boo windows where we were enveloped by schools of bat fish and mating trevallies as far as the eye could see.
As we traveled north we enjoyed swimming with mantas, cuttlefish and octopus in Dayang, marveled at the mangroves of Yangeffo and swooned over the marine life we encountered under the pier and surrounding reefs at Sawanderek.
Aljui Bay blew us away with some crazy critters sightings. Three Wobbegong sharks, a walking shark, a blue ring octopus, flying gunards, wasp leaf fish were just some of the remarkable encounters we had. And of course we were enthralled with the soft coral gardens in the channel.
Many of our group knew each other from past trips but the “newbies” were heartily embraced. Our time on board was full of lively conversations, hearty laughs and a real appreciation of the shared experience of being in stunning Raja Ampat.
Thank you Pindito crew and my fellow underwater companions for a fabulous and memorable trip!
