Forgotten Islands, The Banda Sea, Raja Ampat and Wonderful Wakatobi. Six Weeks of Absolute Bliss…
Twenty-four nights on the luxurious Coralia liveaboard through the Forgotten Islands to Raja Ampat, followed by a week at Wakatobi Eco Resort…this was the dreamiest combination of trips that I never wanted to wake up from.
Our voyage began in Saumlaki and traveled through islands rarely visited. We were blessed with sunny skies and calm seas and days without seeing another boat. Were we at the edge of world? If so, we never wanted to be found. The seas were so calm, we joked this must be the Banda Lake
Incredible marine diversity and healthy, beautiful corals. In Manuk, we were surrounded with undulating sea snakes, In the Banda Sea we were captivated by mating mandarin fish, On the islands of Run and Ai we glided over the most pristine reefs that seemed to never end. As we traveled up through Raja Ampat we spent magical hours with Mantas at Dayang. You know it’s a good day when you’re so happy and sated that you leave the water even while the mantas continue their underwater ballet.
Every day on board was just what we all strive and can rarely hold on to…living in the moment, savoring the incredible beauty of pristine reefs, rejoicing in the diversity of marine life and feeling a sense of kinship with are fellow travelers.
And what’s not to love about Wakatobi, the kindest staff in the world, jaw-dropping reefs and comfortable accommodations and yummy, yummy food.
I’m truly blessed to be able to see and share these remarkable remote corners of the world and share it with you.
