The Sea of Cortez offers an astonishing variety and amount of marine life. From our 52-foot luxury catamaran, discover why Jacques Cousteau named the Sea of Cortez the “Aquarium of the World”.
Playful California sea lions, mega pods of dolphins, turtles, and huge schools of fish inhabit these waters. This time of year there is also a very good chance to see and swim with schools of mobulas.
During this 10-day trip we’ll explore the islands and reefs between La Paz and Loreto. There will be time for underwater explorations, beach walks, desert hikes, paddleboarding and more…
July 6, 2026 Arrive Cabo San Lucas (SJD) any time of day. You will be met and transferred to the lovely eco-resort Ventana Palapas. This sweet family-run seaside resort features 13 charming casitas, full-service restaurant, pool and jacuzzi.

July 7-14, 2026 Our adventure takes off with a day of snorkeling around Cerralvo island. In the afternoon we’ll board our beautiful, comfortable catamaran!
Each day will bring us to a new island and underwater environment to explore. We’ll have the opportunity for night snorkeling and maybe even a bioluminescence show. At night we’ll nestle into a protected anchorage, enjoy dinner and share the days adventures under the stars.
There is an incredible profusion of life in the Sea of Cortez. Wildlife highlights may include the following cetaceans: orcas, pilot whales, sperm whales and dolphins. It’s an excellent time of years for rays including mobulas, eagle rays and if we’re lucky manta rays.
Commonly seen marine life includes groupers, angel fish, parrotfish, moorish idols, turtles, eels and octopus.
And we can certainly look forward to frolicking with sea lions.
if we can tear our eyes away from the sea, there is amazing bird life including frigates, blue and brown footed boobies, cormorants, egrets and herons!
Our captain and guide extraordinaire, Tim Hatler has designed a very special itinerary for our expedition. Tim and his professional team look forward to showing us the best Baja has to offer. Our crew of naturalists will also provide lectures on board.
Water temps should be a very comfortable 80-84F in July.
