Bula!
Honestly, it’s impossible not to love Fiji. The people are some of the friendliest in the world. And it’s not a fakey-tourist friendly. It’s a genuine body and soul kind of friendly. I’ve experienced this from my very first visit to Fiji in 1980 and during my many return trips since then.
A trip to Fiji isn’t complete without a village visit, sitting around drinking kava and dancing! Oh, and then there’s the snorkeling!
It’s a joy to snorkel through clouds of fish, over vibrant coral. What a privilege to have the seas and reefs to ourselves. The Nai’a is the only liveaboard operating in Fiji. The Nai’a is a comfortable, well-run boat with wonderful crew (more kava, laughing and dancing) and the meals on board are some of the best ever. There is something else I noticed which is sad to say, rare these days. We saw no trash or plastic in the water. We enjoyed clean, beautiful reefs by day and bright starry skies at night.
Our wonderful cruise directors Mike and Bel summed up our trip perfectly.
“What an incredible trip we’ve had, again! Wendy and her fabulous group of snorkelers chartered NAI’A for 8 days of the best snorkeling Fiji has to offer. We drifted, we mucked, we swam with pilot whales and manta rays. They were incredibly lucky with the weather and the sightings. These guys are serious about their swimming, they wore us out! It was an absolutely wonderful journey filled with laughter, mad cows, exploding chickens and a lot of friendship.”
Vinaka vaka levu! I look forward to returning to Fiji one day in the not too distant future!
