Epic Indonesian Snorkel Trip: Part II N. Sulawesi October 19-27, 2019

October 19, 2019 - October 27, 2019

Indonesia is a fascinating and diverse country in terms of culture, nature and landscape. I’ve designed a unique itinerary that highlights the stunning biodiversity of Indonesia beneath the sea.
Indonesia is in the heart of of the Coral Triangle.  75% of the world’s coral species are found here and there are over 1,000 species of fish.  Snorkeling in Indonesia is unique not only for the sheer volume of marine life but also due to the variety of accessible marine habitats including vibrant coral gardens, sea mounts and magical mangroves.
It all adds up to be the epicenter of the most awesome snorkeling.

I’ve combined three distinct and remarkable areas of Indonesia to create the pinnacle of snorkel trips.
Choose one, two, or combine all three adventures to experience the remote and pristine reefs of Indonesia.

Part I  Komodo Liveaboard Snorkel Trip Oct 7-17, 2019
Part II  Land-based snorkel trip in Bangka and Siladen, N. Sulawesi Oct 19-27, 2019
Part III  Raja Ampat Liveaboard Snorkel Trip Oct 27 -Nov 6, 2019

October is the perfect month to take advantage of ideal snorkel conditions in all three areas without crowds.
I’m thrilled to offer this combination of experiences that showcases the underwater wonders of Indonesia.
The second of the trio of adventures takes place in the marine parks of N. Sulawesi

Part II. N. Sulawesi Oct 19-27  Eight nights Bangka and Siladen Resorts

Highlights:
– Experience Sulawesi. This dramatic orchid shaped island located N.E. of Bali has many miles of coastline and thickly forested interior. Small offshore islands offer an incredible variety of snorkeling options. Volcanic landscape gives way to traditional villages and terraced rice fields. Sulawesi is famous for the centuries-old tradition of ship building.  In the mountains are the Toraja people, who build their houses with dramatic saddleback roofs and have complex funerary rituals culminating in cliffside tombs guarded by wooden effigies.

Our time in Sulawesi will be spent exploring the reefs off of Bangka and Siladen islands in the North of Sulawesi.
-Based from comfortable bungalows we’ll have the opportunity to snorkel a variety of underwater habitats
-Wildlife walking tour in Tangkoko National Park.

Oct 19-Arrive Manado and transfer by boat to Bangka Resort.
Oct 19-22  Murex Bangka Resort
Murex Bangka is a snorkeler’s paradise. Situated on a palm-fringed white sand beach, Murex Bangka offers a  Robinson Crusoe style experience.  The House Reef right in front of the resort is on a crystal-clear turquoise lagoon with excellent snorkeling.

Bangka has charming and comfortable, traditionally styled timber bungalows.  All rooms are oceanfront with stunning views.
During our three night stay we’ll have time to enjoy the remarkable house reef plus two days of snorkeling nearby reefs by boat and a day tour to Tangkoko National Park.
Nocturnal tarsier dwell in the rainforests and can often be spotted at Tangkoko Reserve, along with black macaques, cuscus and exotic birds.

October 22 Transfer by boat from Bangka to Siladen.
Oct 22-27 Siladen Resort and Spa
Siladen Resort & Spa is a unique eco-resort located on Pulau Siladen, a lush island in the heart of the Bunaken National Marine Park.  This boutique resort is just a half hour boat ride from Manado, yet it feels remote and pristine.
Elegant bungalows stretch along a white coral reef beach with volcanic views.

Bunaken is protected marine sanctuary known for the richness of its marine biodiversity, from macro life to pelagics such as reef sharks, eagle rays, barracudas, tuna, napoleon wrasses and turtles.
The dramatic walls rich in hard and soft corals and shallow reefs are ideal for for snorkeling.
Our five night stay at Siladen will include  time to explore the house reef, three days of boat snorkel trips to nearby reefs and a Dolphin tour.
October  27 Transfer back to Manado early morning.  If you are continuing to Raja Ampat trip, it’s a quick 1 1/2 hour flight from Manado to Sorong where we board the PIndito. Otherwise you are free to begin your journey home or onward.
