I was fortunate to spend a month in Raja Ampat from January 16-February 11, 2017. Don’t hate me, just come with me next time!
I escorted two enthusiastic and buoyant groups. We had charmed voyages. Warm, clear, blue ocean conditions greeted us each day. Misool, Batanta and the Dampier left us in awe. Every day we were treated to a new environment including beautiful reefs, mangroves, and stunning landscapes.
We were enchanted by deep red, purple and pink soft corals, enormous sea fans and schools and schools of fish. We had smooth sailing for our adventure as we covered over 300 nautical miles.
We snorkeled our hearts out with occasional stops long enough to refuel so we could jump back in. After all, there were fish waiting to meet us. We snorkeled over and through schools Fusiliers, Anthias, Sweetlips, Trevallis, Chromis, Snappers, and Batfish. It’s always a special thrill to encounter less predictable marine life so we considered ourselves very fortunate to snorkel with Mantas, Barracudas, Wobbegong Sharks, Cuttlefish and Octopus.
Sometimes the enormity of the beauty is hard for me to fully comprehend all at once, it’s so all-encompassing.
Now that I’ve had time for the experience to settle into my bones I’m in awe of everything we did and experienced.
Here’s to my lovely traveling companions for sharing the joys of adventure and snorkeling.
A huge thank-you to the Pindito crew for such caring and knowledgeable guidance. It was an unforgettable and wonderful experience.
