Back from a dreamy three weeks snorkeling in French Polynesia.
Once it became clear the October Banda Sea and Raja trips couldn’t operate, I chartered a 65 foot catamaran for an exploratory trip through the Tuamotu islands of Rangiroa, Apataki, Toau and Fakarava.

We had calm seas, warm weather and the wind in our hair as we sailed from island to island. We enjoyed leisurely snorkels in shallow reefs and had thrilling drift snorkels over rivers of fish in the passes the Tuamotus are famous for. Our sweet Polynesian crew of 3 took good care of us and kept us well fed and charmed by the songs they often sang.

There were several glorious days when we didn’t see another boat or hotel in sight. It was just us, floating under a clear blue sky, free to explore the reefs disconnected from the world.

We also spent 3 blissful nights at the Kia Ora resort in Rangiroa. None of us wanted to leave and we are all dreaming of when we can return!

There are a number of hoops to jump through to enter French Polynesia including online health forms, testing before departure and upon arrival but it was so worth it be so we could be on this amazing sailing adventure.

Sometimes travel is more than just a trip.  Traveling during the pandemic especially in such a beautiful environment had an extra sweetness and nourishing quality. Truly a balm for the soul.
Peaceful and happy,
