SUMMARY:Underwater Treasures of Raja Ampat and Halmahera May 4-15\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:I’m very excited to announce two new trips for Snorkeling Etc. The first trip combines the very best of Raja Ampat with the rarely visited pristine reefs of Halmahera. \nThe second voyage begins in Halmahera and continues to the beautiful reefs around Bangka island and ends in Lembeh\, the critter capital of the world.  There will even be a time to visit Tangkoko National Park where you can see Tarsiers\, the smallest known primate\, and black Macaque monkeys.\nIt’s going to be awesome. Join one or both voyages. If a little is good a lot is better! \nDuring the first 10-day voyage we’ll have the luxury of time to explore the super awesome\, super fishy reefs of Raja Ampat and Halmahera. \n \nRaja Ampat and Halmahera are located in the heart of the Coral Triangle home to the world’s most biodiverse coral reefs. 75% of the world’s coral species and a whooping 1\,700 species of fish are found here.  Snorkeling in Indonesia is unique not only for the sheer volume of marine life but also due to the variety of accessible marine habitats including vibrant coral gardens\, sea mounts and magical mangroves.\nFusiliers\, butterflyfish\, parrotfish\, surgeons\, bannerfish\, triggerfish and squadrons of jacks and barracuda are typical sights. Other underwater highlights may include a variety of octopus\, cuttlefish\, wobbegong sharks\, turtles\, mobulas and majestic mantas. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Walking Shark\n \n \n \n \n \n Clown trigger fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Wobbegong Shark\n \n \n\nMay 4-15\, 2026 The morning of May 4 you’ll board the lovely and spacious Seahorse liveaboard in Sorong. After a boat orientation\, the anchor comes up and the adventure begins! \nThe rhythm of the days on a live-aboard snorkel trip is fun and flexible.  Perhaps you’ll want to start your day watching the sunrise and stretching on the upper deck. After a breakfast of mouth-watering goodies we’ll have a snorkel briefing and slip into the water for a leisurely morning snorkel.  After lunch and time for a rest we’ll jump back in the water and explore a new underwater wonderland.\nEach guided snorkel session lasts approximately 2 hours. Any time you you want to take a break there will be a skiff nearby where you can take a rest or return to the Seahorse.  When possible there may be a dusk or night snorkel. \nThe Captain and the Cruise Director will put the best possible trip together based on the prevailing conditions. The focus will be on quality time on beautiful\, shallow reefs ideal for snorkeling. \nThe first half of the trip will be spent snorkeling the best Raja Ampat has to offer in the dynamic Dampier Straits and the spectacular coral gardens of Misool. Many of my favorite sites are in the Dampier straits. Kri\, Sawandarek\, Friwenbonda have such prolific fish life\, it’s hard to know which way to look.\nMisool features fantastic snorkel sites like Gorgonian passage with unreal sumptuous soft coral gardens. And around Boo windows and Magic Mt. larger schools of fish and both reef and oceanic mantas can be seen. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nNo matter how many times I’ve been in Raja Ampat\, I’m always blown away by the beauty and sheer magnitude of marine life.  The reefs are teeming with life and host hard coral gardens\, lush colorful soft corals and gorgonians.\nIt’s truly astonishing. \nThe voyage will continue on the “road less traveled” to remote reefs of Halmahera.\nLocated in the Moluccas\, west of Raja Ampat is the island of Halmahera and neighboring archipelago. \nThis rarely visited region features dramatic volcanoes and beautiful beaches. The pristine reefs offer a profusion of soft corals exploding with anthias\, the pinnacles are full of schooling fish\, the walls covered in stunning soft corals and sea fans.\nIn the black sand habitats\, look for seahorses\, cuttlefish\, leaf fish\, scorpionfish and frogfish. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nThe nutrient rich currents enable the proliferation of an astounding number of fish including surgeonfish\, bumphead parrotfish\, butterflyfish\, angelfish\, jacks\, sharks and rays!\nTraveling by liveaboard\, you’ll be able to explore the full diversity of this remarkable archipelago. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nHalfway between Misool and Halmahera is Palau Pisang\, an oasis in the middle of the sea.  This very fishy reef is known for known for colorful soft coral and its dreamy landscape. \nThe Pantini Strait between Halmahera and Bacan islands has stunning reefs.\nKusu Island and neighboring islands are within a 5-mile marine protection zone.  Commercial fishing is not allowed and the reefs reflect this protection allows the opportunity to see everything from hundreds of reef fish\, sweetlips\, sharks and mantas down to macro critters like leaf fish\, ghost pipefish and weird and wonderful nudibranchs. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mantis shrimp\n \n \n \n \n \n sweepers\n \n \n \n \n \n Seahorse\n \n \n\nThe dramatic seascape around Proco\, Dehabira\, and Saleh islands feature mini canyons\, channels\, and phenomenal reefs. Currents can bring in tuna\, barracuda\, black tip and grey reef sharks. Brightly colored anthias\, and schools of reef fish and glass fish\, scorpion fish\, crocodile fish and walking sharks can be found throughout this area. \nThe locals of the Goraichi islands have been actively protecting their reefs and they are bursting with colorful hard and soft corals and schooling reef fish. Sharks and manta and often spotted here.  The expedition come to an end in Ternate. \nMay 15\, 2026  Travelers departing today will disembark the Seahorse in Ternate. Onward flights can be scheduled anytime of day. SUMMARY:Underwater Treasures part 2-Halmahera and Sulawesi May 17-28\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:This unique 11-night itinerary will take you from the remote and stunning coral reefs of Halmahera to the famed critter capital of the Lembeh Straits.  En-route you will even have the opportunity to snorkel the sumptuous reefs around Bangka Island and visit Tangkoko National Park. \n \nMay 17-28\nThe morning of May 17\, board the lovely and comfortable Seahorse liveaboard in Ternate located in the Moluccas\, off the coast of Halmahera. After you have a chance to settle in\, the adventure begins! This itinerary offer so many highlights.  This rarely visited region features dramatic volcanos\, beautiful white sand beaches and our raison d’etre\, fantastic snorkeling! \nHalmahera is right in the middle of the coral triangle and you can expect astounding biodiversity. The reefs are pristine and untouched.  Past Scientific surveys report this area is comparable only to Raja Ampat.\nThe seascape is breathtaking. The pinnacles are full of schooling fish\, the walls are covered in stunning soft corals and sea fans and the reefs are pristine and super fishy.  Napoleon wrasse\, parrotfish\, turtles\, reef sharks\, schools of jacks\, barracuda\, and clouds of anthias populate the reefs here. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lionfish\n \n \n \n \n \n Sweepers\n \n \n \n \n \n Cuttlefish\n \n \n\nHigh points of our time in South Halmahera include the stunning reefs in the Pantini Strait. Kusu and neighboring islands are in a marine protected area and the condition of the reefs reflect the lack of commercial fishing.\nInside this protected area\, the amazing underwater world offers everything from big fish like tunas\, dolphins\, mantas and sharks to large schools of fish down to the smallest of critters.  The reefs are teeming with life and hard coral gardens\, lush colorful soft corals and gorgonians. The seascape offers walls\, slopes\, caverns\, caves\, overhangs\, sea grass beds and underwater pinnacles. \nTifore is a pinnacle between Halmahera and Lembeh which is known for having a crazy volume of barracuda.\nThe huge school of barracuda\, said to number over 1\,000!  Just off the island there is a submerged reef that slopes down to healthy hard and soft corals and huge shoals of schooling fish. Grey reef sharks sometimes pass by here too. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nThe final leg of the journey will be in N. Sulawesi. Tangkoko National Park is a nature reserve with exceptional groves of very old trees and a variety of animal life.  The Tarsius is the smallest known primate. \n \nThere are several groups of the endemic Black Macaque monkeys\, Maleo birds and Kuskus (marsupials) are often spotted by the park guide. \n \nThe reefs of Bangka teem with so much life. One of my favorite spots is Bangka’s Batu Mandi pinnacle. During one snorkel there I was enthralled watching a cuttlefish flash hypnotically while hunting it’s prey while a gorgeous giant yellow frogfish looked up at me from the reef below. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n coral gardens\n \n \n \n \n \n cuttlefish\n \n \n \n \n \n it’s raining fish\n \n \n\nThe grand finale of this epic voyage will be in Lembeh straits. Every weird and wonderful critter is found in these waters.\nHave you gone “muck” snorkeling before? If not\, you are in for a treat!\nMuck snorkeling is like going on a treasure hunt. At first glance you may not see anything but black sand\, maybe some sea grass\, probably a bit debris but then….as your eyes adjust and you move slowly\, slowly along the sand all of a sudden you start to notice all kinds of crazy life forms.\nYou may see mimic octopus\, blue ring octopus\, hairy frogfish\, flamboyant cuttlefish\, pygmy squid\, flying gunards and all kinds of fantastical and flamboyant nudibranchs. The eagle-eyed snorkel guides will be close at hand to help point out discoveries. It’s great fun! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Nudibranch\n \n \n \n \n \n mandarin fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Flying gunard\n \n \n\nLembeh also has pretty reefs with beautiful fishes like the endemic Banggai cardinalfish and the colorful and interactive mandarinfish. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n giant frog fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Blue Ring Octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n Scorpion Fish\n \n \n\nEach day we’ll travel to best snorkel sites based on real-time conditions. The advantage of liveaboard travel is the ability to relocate to fishy\, sheltered snorkel sites with good visibility.\nThe Seahorse has four excellent snorkel guides who will be in the water with us\, eager to point out cryptic critters and other underwater wonders. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n anemone fish\n \n \n \n \n \n long nose file fish\n \n \n \n \n \n mimic file fish\n \n \n\nThe rhythm of the days on a live-aboard snorkel trip is fun and flexible.  Perhaps you’ll want to start your day watching the sunrise and stretching on the upper deck. After a breakfast of mouth-watering goodies we’ll have a snorkel briefing and slip into the water for a leisurely morning snorkel.  After lunch and time for a rest we’ll jump back in the water and explore a new underwater wonderland. \nEach guided snorkel session lasts approximately 2 hours. Any time you you want to take a break there will be a skiff nearby where you can take a rest or return to the Seahorse.  When possible there may be a dusk or night snorkel.\nOur day to day itinerary will vary to make sure we are at the best site at the best time.  It’s all about maximum exposure to discover a variety of marine life in the best possible conditions. On some days we’ll have the opportunity for beach time or a zodiac tour. \nMay 28  This epic voyage ends in Manado. The morning of May 28th the group will disembark the Seahorse.\nThe good news is Manado has an international airport. You can schedule your onward flight any time of day. The Seahorse will provide transportation to the airport or hotel of your choice in Manado. \nTHE SEAHORSE \n \nThe MSY Seahorse is a newly-refurbished 33m (108 ft) Phinisi-style liveaboard boat\, run by Wallacea Dive Cruises\, who have successfully run exceptional voyages for over 20 years. \nThe classic beauty of The Seahorse Liveaboard combines traditional craftsmanship with all the modern conveniences and safety features.\nThe spacious sun deck has a lounge area with a cover for shade.  Photographers will love the large dedicated camera room.\nThe bright and airy restaurant serves up healthy\, gourmet meals.  The head chef prepares excellent meals with plenty fresh fruits and vegetables. SUMMARY:Banda Sea to Raja Ampat-Best of Both Worlds November 3-13\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Banda Sea trip is one of my all-time favorite voyages. This area offers some of the most spectacular snorkeling in Indonesia. During our explorations we’ll experience the underwater beauty and stunning scenery of Ambon\, Banda Sea and Raja Ampat.\nThe islands of the Banda Sea are off the beaten path feel\, perfect to be explored by liveaboard. \n \nThe remoteness of these islands along with low human population means there has been less impact from fishing and pollution. The result is a vibrant\, natural and healthy reef system.  Over 1\,500 fish species and 500 coral species inhabit this magical area. 75% of all Coral species that exist in the world are located here.  The colorful reefs explode with soft and hard corals and are home to a rainbow of reef fish and marine life ranging from magnificent mandarin fish to majestic mantas.\nOctober and November are the ideal months to enjoy clear skies and the calmest seas. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n frogfish\n \n \n \n \n \n Octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n Manta\n \n \n \n \n \n Mantis Shrimp\n \n \n\nItinerary:\nNovember  3-13\, 2026\nOn November 3\, 2026 we’ll board the luxurious Coralia in Ambon and begin our travels through the heart of the famed “Coral Triangle”. The sheer number and diversity of marine environments makes snorkeling in the Banda Sea a snorkelers dream.\nThis dynamic area features brilliant soft coral gardens\, dramatic walls covered in massive gorgeous gorgonian sea fans\, pinnacles\, an ancient lava flow with huge table coral and more!\nBeyond providing some of the best snorkeling in Indonesia the volcanic Banda Islands\, also know as the Spice Islands\, have had a long and fascinating history. Up until the middle of the 19th century this was the only place on Earth where the spices nutmeg and mace could be found. As a result this area became a crucial hub for the spice trade. \nWe’ll begin our journey exploring a few of the bays around Ambon. Ambon is muck heaven. A real treasure chest of critters can be found around Ambon including frogfish\, octopus\, sea horses\, flying gunards and a huge variety of nudibranchs. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Poison ocellated octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n Sargassum Frogfish \n \n \n \n \n \n Seahorse\n \n \n\nOur journey will continue as we travel north to Nusa Laut\,  The village there protects the fantastic snorkel site of Amet Reef. Eagle rays\, a huge school of jacks\, hammerhead sharks and even a Dugong have all been seen here. The reef is very healthy and it is common to see Bumphead parrotfish feeding in the shallows. \nWe’ll continue on to visit the historically significant island of Banda Neira\, once the center of the Dutch/Portuguese Spice Trade dating back to the early 1600s. In Banda Neira we’ll visit an open air market\, the old dutch fort\, museum and a nutmeg plantation. We’ll learn about the incredible history of these remote islands.\nBanda Neira is one of the few places in the world you can snorkel with Mandarin Fish. These gorgeous\, psychedelic-colored fish are bigger than their cousins in Palau and they are easily seen.  We’ll snorkel at dusk and if we’re lucky\, we may even see them mating. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n vibrant reef\n \n \n \n \n \n Lion fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Mandarin fish\n \n \n\nA highlight of our voyage in November 2022\, were the spectacular reefs of Run and Ai. I was agog\, totally blown away by the never-ending vibrant\, fishy reefs of these Banda Islands. I’m excited for you to see these remote and gorgeous reefs. \nAs we travel through the Banda Sea to Raja Ampat we’ll enjoy the soft corals of Misool and the super fishy Dampier straits.\nThe variety of marine life should be phenomenal. We’ll swim through a parade of fusiliers\, surgeons\, banner fish\, trigger fish and squadrons of jacks and barracuda. Other area highlights may include mobula rays gliding over the reefs\, wobbegong sharks weaving along the sea floor and magnificent mantas. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sweetlips\n \n \n \n \n \n Wobbegong Shark\n \n \n \n \n \n Cuttlefish\n \n \n\nOur day to day itinerary will be based on real time tidal and weather conditions.\nOur capable captain will position us to make sure we are in the best places at the optimum time. We have the luxury of time\, when we find a spectacular site we love\, we have the flexibility to stay. We can follow our hearts and the fish! \nFor early risers\, the day might start with watching the sunrise and fresh brewed coffee. You’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast (don’t get me started about the home-made cinnamon rolls) before jumping in for your first snorkel adventure.\nThe afternoons will feature another exploration under the sea and perhaps a hike.\nThe leisurely 10 days at sea will be full of fantastic snorkeling\, village visits and relaxing time on board with other like-minded adventurers. \nYour Yacht: \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Coralia\n \n \n \n \n \n Dining al fresco\n \n \n \n \n \n Sun deck\n \n \n\nThe Coralia is 157 x 30 feet.  There is ample deck space to enjoy the view\, dine\, or simply relax.\nThe spacious sun deck and lounge areas have comfy sofas and loungers. SUMMARY:Best of Raja Ampat! 10-night luxury liveaboard trip Nov 15-25\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:This journey has been created to give you the best of everything. Phenomenal snorkeling in the epicenter of the Coral Triangle from the award-winning\, super-fabulous Coralia liveaboard. \nIndonesia is in the heart of the Coral Triangle. 75% of the world’s coral species and a whooping 1\,000 species of fish are found here.  Snorkeling in Indonesia is unique not only for the sheer volume of marine life but also due to the variety of accessible marine habitats including vibrant coral gardens\, sea mounts and magical mangroves. Raja Ampat is one of the most extraordinary places to snorkel on the planet. If you are an avid snorkeler this is a part of the world you must visit. I have been to Raja Ampat many times and my enthusiasm to return only gets stronger with each visit. Every time I enter the water it’s a different and exciting experience.  The remarkable array of vibrant soft corals\, sea fans\, sponges and hard coral gardens are stunning.  The prolific marine life includes petite to pelagic aquatic critters.   Fusiliers\, butterflyfish\, parrotfish\, surgeons\, bannerfish\, triggerfish and squadrons of jacks and barracuda are typical sights. Highlights can include pygmy seahorses\, mandarin fish\, wobbegong sharks\, turtles and majestic mantas. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Blue Ribbon Eel\n \n \n \n \n \n Anthias!\n \n \n \n \n \n Lion fish\n \n \n\nWhere is Raja Ampat? Raja Ampat or “Four Kings” refers to four main islands located off the northwest coast of West Papua: Misool\, Salawati\, Batan\, and Waigeo.  The region stretches over 15\,000 square miles. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nITINERARY: \nNovember 15\, 2026\nUpon arrival in Sorong\, we’ll be met by Coralia crew and transferred to the port where we’ll board the lovely Coralia liveaboard. The cabins\, the crew and oh my\, the food are fabulous. The Coralia will be our home for the next 10 days.  Once we settle in and have an on-board safety orientation\, we’ll begin our voyage! \n \n\nNovember 16-25 2026\n At sea exploring the wonders of Raja Ampat.\nFrom the comfort of our liveaboard we’ll explore the beautiful shallow reefs and mind-blowing coral and marine life of Raja Ampat.\nRaja Ampat has literally hundreds of diverse snorkel sites to choose from.  Each day we’ll travel to optimal sites available based on real-time conditions. The advantage of liveaboard travel is the ability to relocate to fishy\, sheltered snorkel sites with good visibility.\nThe Coralia has four excellent snorkel guides who will be in the water with us\, eager to point out cryptic critters and other underwater wonders. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sweetlips\n \n \n \n \n \n Walking shark\n \n \n \n \n \n\nThe rhythm of the days on a live-aboard snorkel trip is fun and flexible. Any time you you want to take a break there will be a skiff nearby where you can take a rest or return to the Coralia. \nThe atmosphere on board is relaxed and casual.  This is your trip\, you can focus on your passion whether it be photography\, swimming\, snorkeling\, speaking Indonesian with the friendly crew\, or connecting with your fellow passengers.\nSome travelers are quite content to spend hours on board enjoying the scenery and reading a book. That’s okay too!\nOur adventure-filled days will end watching the sun set\, dinner under the stars and looking forward to what the next day will bring. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Manta Ray\n \n \n \n \n \n Scorpion Fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Wobbegong Shark\n \n \n\nPersonally\, one of my favorite things about being at sea is the feeling of being so present. It’s one of the few times in my life I’m not preoccupied with the past or the future. Time seems suspended and it’s all about being in the here and now\, fully immersed in beauty and nature. \nOUR YACHT:\nThis expedition takes place on the elegant and comfortable Coralia liveaboard yacht. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Coralia\n \n \n \n \n \n Dining al fresco\n \n \n \n \n \n chill out time\n \n \n\nThe Coralia is 157 x 30 feet.  There is ample deck space to enjoy the view\, dine\, or simply relax.\nThe spacious sun deck and lounge areas have comfy sofas and loungers. There is an indoor air-conditioned dining room.\nThe chef uses as much fresh local produce as he can\, including fresh seafood. Healthy buffets can be tailored to any diet requirements.\nFor those who like to indulge\, the fresh baked bread\, luscious cinnamon rolls and dare I say\, donuts….are incredible!\nWeather permitting\, we can enjoy our meals al fresco on deck. Sulawesi within a National Marine Park that is widely recognized as having the highest number of coral and fish species in the world. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cuttlefish\n \n \n \n \n \n Lionfish\n \n \n \n \n \n octopus\n \n \n\nWakatobi has it all; elegant\, air-conditioned bungalows\, gourmet\, healthy food and personal and friendly service.\nThe ambiance is intimate and casual. This remote and sublime eco-resort has earned well-deserved awards and rave reviews.  Wakatobi holds just 54 fortunate guests\, served by a staff of 150. The staff is truly the most gracious and accommodating I’ve ever encountered.\nBest of all\, the snorkeling is fabulous.  Hands down the best snorkeling I’ve ever experienced from any resort.\nThis will be my seventh visit to Wakatobi. Join me and your fellow snorkelers and you’ll understand why it’s worth returning to this snorkeler’s paradise again and again. The reefs at Wakatobi have not been affected by bleaching. The coral is vibrant and healthy and the abundance and variety of marine life is thrilling.\nAccess to the reefs begins right in front of the bungalows. The House Reef is accessed either directly from the beach or the jetty. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n reef heaven\n \n \n \n \n \n serenity\n \n \n \n \n \n\nThere are over 500 species of coral in a dazzling array of colors\, shapes and sizes. When you enter the ocean from the beach you first encounter sea grass which is a nursery to juveniles of many species including parrot fish\, filefish and anemone fish. It’s common to see turtles\, bumpheads\, rabbitfish\, rays\, eels\, butterfly fish\, triggerfish\, sweetlips\, box fish\, puffer fish and jewel-colored anthias. This is a snorkeler’s dream vacation. Loreto is a charming\, seaside town. This colonial city is officially designated as a Pueblos Magicos or Magical Village. Loreto is home to ancient cave paintings\, two 17th century mission churches. You may choose to arrive a few days early to enjoy the art\, architecture and excellent restaurants of the area. \n \nDuring our unique 11-day “Explore Baja” itinerary we’ll cover over 450 miles of stunning landscapes. So much of Baja is pristine and undeveloped.  Start your morning on the top deck and take in the drama of the Sea of Cortez.  Towering cardon cacti reach upward to 60 feet tall\, plants bloom unexpectantly\, desert cliffs plunge straight into brilliant blue water and empty beaches stretch for miles. The stark beauty of the desert feels like you are at the edge of world.\nWhile on deck\, scan the horizon for dolphins and whales.  Overhead keep a look out for frigate birds\, herons and blue and brown-footed bobbies. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Brown Creek Blenny\n \n \n \n \n \n Playful Sea Lions\n \n \n \n \n \n Curious octopus\n \n \n\nThe drama continues in the water. Snorkel highlights may include the endemic Cortez angelfish\, schools of triggerfish\, butterfly fish\, octopus\, scorpionfish\, whale sharks and variety of rays including mobulas! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n whale shark\n \n \n \n \n \n Mobulas\n \n \n \n \n \n Sea Lions\n \n \n\nPersonally\, I can’t get enough of the playful sea lions. It’s so much fun to interact with them\, especially the young pups who twist and twirl around in acrobatic antics all around you!\nAs you travel south to north you’ll experience a range of underwater environments. The Southern part of the Sea of Cortez has lush coral and large congregations of fish\, as you travel north the terrain becomes rockier\, this is where you can see underwater treasures like nudibranchs\, scorpionfish galore and octopus. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Black-nosed butterfly fish.\n \n \n \n \n \n Red-tipped Sea Goddess Nudibranch\n \n \n \n \n \n Scores of fish!\n \n \n\nBahia de los Angeles is located approximately mid-way down the Baja California peninsula and this is where we’ll have an opportunity to swim with whale sharks! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Whale sharks!\n \n \n \n \n \n Mobulas!\n \n \n \n \n \n Fishy reefs\n \n \n\nWe’ll also have time to enjoy desert hikes and beach walks. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Desert Hikes\n \n \n \n \n \n Deserted beaches\n \n \n \n \n \n Desert drama\n \n \n\nAugust 1\, 2027  The group will disembark the Quino del Mar in Puerto Penasco at 7:00am.\nRocky Point Transportation will meet and transfer us back to Phoenix airport in two 14-passenger vans. The approx. four-hour drive is through dramatic desert landscape. The driver will stop along the way for a restroom and stretch break. The international border crossing is at Lukeville/Sonoyta\, about one hour after departing the marina.\nWe’ll be dropped at the Phoenix airport in time to fly out any time after 2pm on August 1st. \nOur voyage will take place on the new Quino del Mar.\nThe Quino del Mar has an experienced and friendly crew\, a wonderful chef who can cater to any special meal requests. We’ll be accompanied in the water with snorkel guides. I’m arranging to have a naturalist join our voyage. We’ll be treated to presentations about marine life and the environment. \n\nThe Quino Del Mar is a comfortable and stable steel hulled vessel that was custom-designed and built specifically for divers and snorkelers in 2025. SUMMARY:Mantas and Dragons! Komodo August 30-September 10\, 2027
DESCRIPTION:Whale Sharks\, Mantas and Dragons on all the same trip? What’s not to love? \nThis voyage offers a fantastic combination of both underwater encounters and topside adventures.  Komodo National  Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its stunning diversity of natural beauty\,  I’m thrilled to return to one of my favorite areas to snorkel and explore. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Manta Ray\n \n \n \n \n \n And of course\, Komodo dragoons\n \n \n\nAugust 30\, 2027\nArrival in Bali\, transfer and check-in to group airport hotel. Evening meet-up and welcome dinner (hotel and dinner included). \nAugust 31 2027\nFly from from Bali (DPS) to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) to board the Coralia liveaboard. Once on board\, you’ll have chance to settle in\, enjoy a welcome meal followed by a safety briefing and anchors away! \nAugust 31-September 10\, 2027 \nAdventures at sea begin in Komodo and Sumbawa!\nKomodo is located at the boundary between the southern Indian and northern Pacific oceans. Powerful tidal currents draw nutrient-rich Indian Ocean seawater to the northern reaches of the park. This confluence creates a remarkable variety of species to mix here. The end result is a stunning diversity of habitats and species in a relatively small area. Komodo National Park is home to more than 1\,000 species of fish\, 260 species of coral. \nKomodo has it all! Beautiful soft coral reefs\, exhilarating drift snorkels\, spectacular hard coral reefs\, fishy pinnacles and black sand muck snorkels. Komodo is home to a large population of manta rays\, large schools of fish\, turtles\, reef sharks and a myriad of weird and wonderful fish and critters! \nDuring this voyage you’ll have the opportunity to experience all the goodies Komodo has to offer including snorkeling\, beach walks and of course the Komodo dragons! You’ll discover first-hand why Komodo National Park is one of the New 7 Seven Wonders of Nature. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nDepending on prevailing conditions\, the voyage will most likely begin in Komodo before heading Sumbawa.  En route to Sumbawa you’ll have a chance to experience Gili Banta and Sangeang volcanic islands. Gili Banta is an ancient\, partially submerged volcano where the Pacific and Indian oceans meet. This convergence brings in fish\, big and small. Perfect for schooling fish\, sharks\, and amazing corals. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Nudibranch\n \n \n \n \n \n Anemonefish\n \n \n \n \n \n sweepers\n \n \n\nSangeang is an active volcano\, that last erupted in 2014. The volcano rises dramatically from the ocean and plumes of smoke are often seen. One of the snorkels is called “Hot Rocks” where there are bubbles streaming out of the sand.\nIt’s super fun to snorkel in this natural spa! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Seahorse\n \n \n\nThe black sands are home to all sorts of incredible marine life including nudibranchs of all sorts and colors.  Other regular sightings include ghost pipefish\, orangutan crabs\, frogfish\, ribbon eels\, mushroom coral pipefish maybe even a seahorse.\nYou may even be treated to an evening show of nature’s fireworks! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Blue Ribbon Eel\n \n \n \n \n \n Reef Octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n giant frog fish\n \n \n\nThe adventures continue as the Coralia travels to Saleh Bay\, Sumbawa for a chance to snorkel with whale sharks. The whale sharks of Sumbawa come to feed at the bagans (fishing platforms) here. This is a natural behavior the whale sharks have learnt that if they suck on the fishing nets the fishermen’s catch comes out of the holes! The fishermen believe these huge fish bring them good luck. They throw handfuls of fish to the whale sharks to keep them close to their bagan. \nWhale sharks have been known to stay with snorkelers for hours at a time.  Having close-up encounters as the whale sharks circle round and round is one of the most incredible experience you can have. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n say ahhhh\n \n \n\nSeptember 10\, 2027 \nAll good things have to come to an end. We’ll disembark the Coralia in the morning. You are free to fly onward anytime of day.\nYou may want to consider extending your time in Komodo\, or even better continue the snorkel extravaganza. Next up is a stay at the amazing Alami Alor Resort\, September 11-19! \n \nOUR YACHT:\nThis expedition takes place on the elegant and comfortable Coralia liveaboard yacht. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Coralia\n \n \n \n \n \n Dining al fresco\n \n \n \n \n \n chill out time\n \n \n\nThe Coralia is 157 x 30 feet.  There is ample deck space to enjoy the view\, dine\, or simply relax.\nThe spacious sun deck and lounge areas have comfy sofas and loungers. SUMMARY:Banda Sea to Raja Ampat-Best of Both Worlds November 8-19\, 2027
DESCRIPTION:The Banda Sea trip offers some of the most spectacular snorkeling in Indonesia. During your explorations you’ll experience the underwater beauty and stunning scenery of Ambon\, Banda Sea and Raja Ampat.\nThe islands of the Banda Sea are off the beaten path feel\, perfect to be explored by liveaboard. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n frogfish\n \n \n \n \n \n Octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n Manta\n \n \n \n \n \n Mantis Shrimp\n \n \n\nItinerary November  8-19\, 2027\nOn November 8\, 2027 you’ll board the luxurious Coralia Dua in Ambon and begin your travels through the heart of the famed “Coral Triangle”. \nThe journey begins with a few days exploring the bays around Ambon. Ambon is muck heaven. A real treasure chest of critters can be found around Ambon including frogfish\, octopus\, sea horses\, flying gunards and a huge variety of nudibranchs. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Poison ocellated octopus\n \n \n \n \n \n Sargassum Frogfish \n \n \n \n \n \n Seahorse\n \n \n\nThe journey continues as you travel north to Nusa Laut\,  The local village protects their reefs.  One of the special sites is Amet Reef.  Here you may see eagle rays\, huge school of jacks\, hammerhead sharks and even a Dugong.\nIt’s common to see Bumphead parrotfish feeding in the shallows. \nYou’ll continue on to the historically significant island of Banda Neira\, once the center of the Dutch/Portuguese Spice Trade dating back to the early 1600s. In Banda Neira you’ll have time to visit an open air market\, a Dutch fort\, museum and a nutmeg plantation.  It’s fascinating to learn about the history of these remote islands.\nBanda Neira is one of the few places in the world you can snorkel with Mandarin Fish. These gorgeous\, psychedelic-colored fish are bigger than their cousins in Palau and more easily seen.  If you are lucky you may even see them mating. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n vibrant reef\n \n \n \n \n \n Lion fish\n \n \n \n \n \n Mandarin fish\n \n \n\nOne of the highlights of past voyages were the spectacular reefs of Run and Ai.  These remote reefs are vibrant\, super fishy and stretch as far as the eye can see. \nAs you travel through the Banda Sea to Raja Ampat you’ll love the soft corals of Misool and the dynamic marine life in the  Dampier straits. Enjoy swims through a parade of fusiliers\, surgeons\, banner fish\, trigger fish and squadrons of jacks and barracuda. Other area highlights may include mobula rays gliding over the reefs\, wobbegong sharks weaving along the sea floor and magnificent mantas. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sweetlips\n \n \n \n \n \n Wobbegong Shark\n \n \n \n \n \n Cuttlefish\n \n \n\nThe day to day itinerary will be based on real time tidal and weather conditions.\nThe capable captain will position the Coralia to make sure you are in the best places at the optimum time.\nYou have the luxury of time\, when there is a spectacular site\, you’ll have the flexibility to stay longer.\nYou can follow your hearts and the fish! \nFor early risers\, the day might start with watching the sunrise and fresh brewed coffee. You’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast (wait till you try the home-made cinnamon rolls!) before jumping in for your first snorkel adventure.\nThe afternoons will feature another exploration under the sea and perhaps a hike.\nThe leisurely 11 days at sea will be full of fantastic snorkeling\, village visits and relaxing time on board with other like-minded adventurers. \nYour Yacht: \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Coralia\n \n \n \n \n \n Dining al fresco\n \n \n \n \n \n Sun deck\n \n \n\nThe Coralia Dua is the brand new sister ship to the Coralia. Updated photos will be added in the near future.\nThis gorgeous vessel is 157 x 30 feet.
